About Nora Graebner

Moshe FeldenkraisI was certified as a Feldenkrais Practitioner after attending a 4 year, 800 hour training with the SEFT program outside of Seattle, WA. This program was very different from my 2 year physical therapist assistant training at Southwest TN Community College in Memphis, TN. PTA school involved the study of anatomy/physiology, kinesiology, psychology, clinical procedures and clinical rotations. It primarily consisted of textbooks, lectures, tests and demonstrations.
My Feldenkrais training, on the other hand, was totally experiential. It centered around the exploration of my own body’s movement, how it evolved from infancy and the interconnectivity of my skeleton. How the neuro-muscular component of movement is a very important aspect of how the brain is involved with all our movements. One of the most challenging aspects of training was becoming more “aware” of my body in movement and in stillness. I have always been one to push-through or ignore pain and discomfort. This is counter to the Feldenkrais principle of optimal learning happening in a comfortable, relaxed condition.
I have had an interesting life journey so far, living all over the country and even some time in Okinawa, Japan. I have worked as an architectural draftsman, a hospice volunteer, mother of 2 sons and wife of an Marine aviator. I am the second oldest of seven children, primarily raised in Bellevue, WA. My husband and I chose to retire in Spokane and are loving the area, the people and all the outdoor activities.
I continue to consider myself a student of the Feldenkrais Method and the human body is general. It is fascinating, all the new research & techniques coming out that explain how we are all put together. I am always learning new and interesting methods of body work including: strain counter-strain, cranial sacral therapy, myofascial release, total motion release, to name a few. I look forward to meeting you and hearing about your journey in life.
